This is the story of Parbazar High School. It was established in 1990. This is one of the best institutions in Jhikargacha upozilla. But in 18th may 2004 a thunder-storm taint the face of the school. The school was devastated by the storm.

After the devastating storm it was seen that there was no place that students could continue their class. 700 student’s future was in a threat. Tin shed toppled over the tree. Under that situation student’s had to continue their class on the field under the sky. Approximately one (1) month was gone like that state. According to head master of the school total damage was about 1 lakh (100,000 taka).

Starting of struggling to reconstruct school as a sustainable position:

Under that situation the main concern was to make such kind of building, safe corridor and develop the resistance power and also availability of equipment to reduce the damage and that can sustain this kind of hazards as well as fire or earthquake in future.

The governing body called a meeting with the teachers and the guardians to overcome the situation. The school authority decided to make a good structured building so that it can get a strong basement as well as it can give shelter in flood or storm. But money was a great fact in that situation. School fund was not sufficient.

The governing body and school fund; combine these were the strength of starting work. From the school fund and some help from the local people they made a new tin shed. But this was not enough for protecting the school from the future disaster. So the governing bodies apply for government help. At last in 2007 the school got a one stored concrete roof building.

“After the devastating storm I cannot think that the school can regenerate. Because we do not have huge funds as well as we do not get initial help from the local government. But we do not lost our hope to reconstruct the school so that in future we prevent natural disaster and protect our properties as well as the dream of the students,” said the headmaster of the school.

Now the school has more than 800 students. These students are the future of our nation. They are now well prepared to face any disaster especially storm. They are confident to reduce the damage, protect the property and as a whole protect the school.
