Description

RCC Meeting is a regional policy dialogue that guides strategic directions, framework of regional interventions and coherent actions on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) for RCC Member Countries. ADPC, as a secretariat of the RCC, has jointly organized the past 12 RCC meetings in partnership with host countries on different themes, in the backdrop of the global and regional DRR prevalent issues, trends and shared vision. The RCC13th will be jointly organized with Government of Pakistan with attendees primarily from NDMOs of the member countries, UN Agencies, development partners on DRR and CCA, and donor agencies. The overall theme of the 13th RCC will be ?Creating Sustainable Progress through Resilience?, which will seek to understand the current status of countries in managing their disaster and climate risk at the local, national and regional level to ensure sustainable progress in tackling the SFDRR goals as well as overall country development. In addition to this, the following would also form part of the thematic focus: ? Measuring the current status of DRM in member countries and the challenges for implementing the SFDRR in the next four years (up to 2020) including the indicator mechanism for showing progress; ? Operationalizing and capacity building of resilience through mainstreaming DRR and CCA into development. This will include analysis of the current approaches and options as well as why key development sectors such as the livelihood sector are now seen as leverage points; ? Understanding the needs of sub-national regions and communities to be able to mainstream DRR into their development planning. ? Integrating conceptually and, more importantly, in practice Climate Change Adaptation and DRR.
