Description

The objective of the project is to build disaster-resilient business and to engage the private sector particularly the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in disaster risk management (DRM) activities.

Key Activities

The project aims to provide technical support to selected SMEs and to the national agencies responsible for SME promotion and DRM in the target countries. Recognizing that the target counties are at different levels of involvement with SMEs in terms of strengthening resilience, the project will implement different activities in each target country depending on country-specific needs and based on discussion with the respective government focal agency. The preparatory work will build on the past and ongoing work related to strengthening resilience of SMEs in the target counties.

Output

In order to achieve the objective, the following outputs are planed:
-Identifying actions to strengthen resilience of SMEs
-Proving technical assistance in strengthening resilience to selected SMEs on a demand-driven basis
-Supporting governments in strengthening the enabling environment that promotes risk sensitive and informed investments by SMEs
-Facilitating knowledge sharing at the regional level
