Description

Building on the civil servants existing technical and managerial skills, DRM/CRM orientation training is aimed at increasing practical knowledge and skills to develop agency-level expertise, management, coordination, information exchange, and joint learning on disaster risk management climate risk management. This will support a more harmonized and coordinated approach to DRM and CRM among Ministries/Agencies. Also, the DRM and CRM linkages have been recognized and efforts at global, regional, national and sub-national are underway to bring synergy. The 2-day orientation training aims: - To bring common understanding of the Disaster Risk Management and the Climate Risk Management concept and linkages - To improve understanding of disaster risks in Bhutan in a changing climate - To familiarize with policy instruments and Institutional arrangements for DRM/CRM in Bhutan - To improve understanding of disaster risk reduction, response coordination, recovery and reconstruction. - To improve knowledge on safer development practices to achieve national economic prosperity and Gross National Happiness (GNH) indices.

Key Activities

?ADPC will conduct and deliver a DRM/CRM Orientation Training for Senior Civil Service. The training modules may include the following sessions: - Disaster Risk Management and Climate Risk Management - Disaster Risk Profile of Bhutan. - Policy Instruments for DRM/CRM in Bhutan. - DRM/CRM Institutional Set-up in Bhutan. - Disaster and Climate Risk Management ? An Overview. - Understanding Mitigation and Preparedness - Response, Recovery and Reconstruction ? An Overview - Linking DRM/CRM with Safer Development Planning and implementation
