Description

The project proposes to build a system of Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) in India from a subjective to a scientific and objective approach, which will incorporate the physical, socio-economic and environmental damages and losses.

Key Activities

1. Development of standardized PDNA tools for India. 2. Dissemination of the tools and training. 3. Pilot testing of the PDNA tools. 4. White paper on accounting for Private Sector Losses.

Output

1. Development of standardized PDNA tools for India - Standardized PDNA tools relevant to India. - Appropriate System of PDNA in India. - Recommendations for integrating the new PDNA tools in the existing procedures.
2. Dissemination of the tools and training - Identification and building the capacities of relevant stakeholders. - Advocacy and creating demands for PDNA in India. - Create a panel of experts for subsequently undertaking assessments.
3. Pilot testing of the PDNA tools - Ensure that the revised PDNA tools and techniques are tested including in a disaster situation. - The PDNA User Handbook, Training modules etc. are in line with the legal and institutional framework of the National and State Government of India.
4. White paper on accounting for Private Sector Losses - Identifying the nature and magnitude of private sector losses, in all sectors of economic activity that may be affected; - Estimating the dynamics and magnitude of private sector losses; - Analyzing the critical issues for promoting recovery of private sector losses.
