The project aims to help flood affected schools to understand flood hazards, means of protection in their schools and communities (which also take into account the inputs from school teachers and children), enhance school and community preparedness on various flood risk reduction activities and encourage them to develop their own plans and awareness activities on flood safety measures. This will also promote the implementation of disaster management in schools and the integration of disaster preparedness programs in school curriculum initiated by the Office of the Basic Education Commission and Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation with the support from JICA in Ayutthaya province.

The project has 4 key main activities as below: Activity 1: Support target schools on development of school flood safety action plan. - Assessment and discussion with target schools and local authorities. - Orientation session for school teachers on vulnerability and risk assessment, mapping, and school flood safety action plan. Activity 2: Support target schools to integrate disaster risk reduction education into school curricular. - Training for school teachers on integration of disaster risk education into school curricula. - Support school teachers to deliver flood risk reduction education for students. Activity 3: Support target schools to plan and organize school flood safety campaigns. - Support school teachers and students to plan for public awareness activities. - Organize school flood safety campaigns and involved community participation. Activity 4: Experience sharing visit on school flood safety to Pathum Thani province. - Study visit and experience sharing workshop to school in Pathum Thani province by 2 school in Ayutthaya.
