Description

ADPC has taken an initiative to develop a methodology to forecast potential impacts of natural disasters using econometric model with the funding support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Norway during 2009 ?2012. During the project period a methodology was developed with the technical assistance from the Centre for Regional Economic and Public Policy (CREPP), Deakin University of Australia with inputs from technical specialists from partner countries. Further a technical training course was held to introduce the methodology at regional level which was accepted and acknowledged by participants.

Main goal of the project is to introduce the methodology to countries which can integrate disaster risk in to economic planning process for better policy options.

Key Activities

- Development of news articles and publication of the initiative in ADPC news letters,other non technical publications.

- Development and publication of two research papers (technical) in journals.

- Conduct a one day workshop/forum to introduce the methodology and usage of the same (country level).

- Two days handson training for relevant experts to introduce the methodology.

- Pilot testing the methodology developed in at least two partner countries with their own economic models.
