Description

Collaborate with United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) to enhance the capacity of technical institutions in the region in application of satellite technology in disaster risk management.

Specific objectives of the project are as follows:

1. Carry out national trainings to introduce the use of satellite technology in disaster risk management

2. Collaborating with UNOSAT on the capaciy building of concerened givernment agencies in Myanmar on GIS and remote sensing

Key Activities

Collaborating with UNOSAT in national training on applications of satellite technology in disaster risk management

Collaborating with UNOSAT on the capaciy building of concerened givernment agencies in Myanmar on GIS and remote sensing

- Assessing technical capacity and human resources of Myanmar government agencies on GIS and remote sensing
- Training on GIS and remote sensing and their applications in disaster risk management
- Demonstration project on baseline and hazard data set development
- Guiding the set up of a national disaster situation center in Myanmar
