Description

The main objective of "Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment (MHRA) in Rakhine" is to assess the vulnerability of communities to various natural hazards and provide a comprehensive picture of the impact of natural hazards as well as determining their degree of exposure to future hazardous events. The study will identify programming gaps and opportunities that will enable Government and other humanitarian and development agencies to formulate disaster risk reduction plans and strategies. The study will focus on developing a multi hazard risk assessment for Rakhine State using deterministic scenario based approach with the goal of providing inputs to disaster risk reduction programming in Rakhine State.

Key Activities

Following tasks are identified in order to prepare comprehensive multi hazard risk assessment for the Rakhine State of Myanmar: 1) Identify and assess the natural hazards in the area 2) Assess the vulnerabilities of community settlements 3) Assess the vulnerabilities of different sectors. 4) Provide specific recommendations on incorporating findings from the risk assessment into a) Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM); and b) Disaster Risk Reduction Programming across key sectors
