EDIS project implemented under the Laos Australia NGO Cooperation Agreement (LANGOCA) was built on a tested System (DesInventar) in Sayaboury province under a pilot project implemented in 2008 ? 2009. Disaster Information Management System that has been proven effective in Sayaboury province and was implemented at national level in 2010-2011 under this new project. Therefore additional capacity building support was provided from UNISDR GAR project to build the capacity of government counterparts in Desinventar system and data collection from 6 additional provinces in Northern Lao PDR namely, Phongsaly province, Bokeo province, Oudomxay Province, Luangprabang province, Houaphan province and Lungnamtha province and covered following activities:

1. Three regional trainings (provincial level) on establishment of DesInventar Program/system were conducted for 17 provinces in 3 regions (Southern, Central and Northern regions) of Lao PDR in July 2010. The Northern training was supported by this project. 2. Historical disaster data from additional six provinces collected and entered into DesInventar System 3. The On-line Lao Disaster Information System is being developed by NDMO and NDMC IT team. The website will be linked with NDMC website and to be used as an information exchange platform.
