Myanmar Earthquake Risk Assessment (Theme 4)

Description

The overall goal is to support Myanmar government in developing a comprehensive earthquake risk assessment approach. The project carries out, in close consultation with a technical expert from the University of Bergen in Norway, detailed assessment of the seismic hazard, vulnerability, and risk in the city selected as a pilot area. The outcomes of this project will provide indication of the seismic risk geographically within the pilot city, allowing the central and local governments to develop proper strategies and prioritization for seismic risk reduction. Close collaboration with Myanmar ministries and departments, academia, and technical institutions is also emphasized to promote knowledge transfer and capacity building in Myanmar.
