Pan-Asian Regional Policy Forum

26 - 28 Nov 2015

Bangkok, Thailand

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center in collaboration with Oxfam is hosting the Pan-Asian Regional Policy Forum on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction and Integration of Climate Change Adaptation into the Environment, Livelihood and Food Security Sectors on 26–28 November 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Throughout the past few decades, extreme weather events in Asia have provided evidence of increases in the intensity and frequency of climate-induced disasters and their impact on livelihoods and natural resources. Tackling the risks caused by the changing climate and ensuring resilient and sustainable development across sectors requires the integration of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation considerations into development planning processes and implementation.

Experts on disaster risk management, climate change, environment, livelihoods and food security from selected Asian countries convene to the regional policy forum to formulate recommendations for policy-makers, development planners, regional bodies and other stakeholders to effectively mainstream disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into development planning and governance.

The objective of the forum is to contribute to enhancing resilience and sustainability at the regional, national and sectoral levels with a focus on environment, livelihoods, and food security in selected countries.

The forum is also expected to result in recommendations that will be presented at the forthcoming Paris 2015 UN climate change conference as well as regional conferences in Asia in 2016.
