ADPC will be hosting and co-hosting several events at the 6th Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction at Bangkok Convention Center at Centara Grand in Bangkok on 22−26 June 2014. Come and meet us at our booth number 23 at the Market Place.

The session will showcase the success of communities that have abided by the Royal Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy. The session is organized by ADPC together with the Office of the Royal Development Projects Board, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Thai Red Cross and Kasetsart University. 11.00−11.20 Ignite stage: Disaster Resilient Leadership
Mrs. S Marina Mohamed, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management, Government of Sri Lanka talk about the achievements of Disaster Resilient Leadership Program as well as how it contributed for attitude change within the sector and systems bringing various stakeholders such as Academes, Government agencies, private sector, NGOs etc to a common leadership platform. Mr. Kep Kannaro, Executive Director of Padek and Chairman of Cambodian Humanitarian Forum, Civil Society Organization will talk about how he mobilized over 100 local NGOs as the country biggest NGO network in Humanitarian Response.

The post-2015 framework on disaster risk reduction is a perfect opportunity to directly address engagement and investment from the private sector in disaster risk management. This session aims to highlight the roles, responsibilities and accountability of the private sector in disaster risk management and make recommendations to promote involvement of businesses in disaster risk reduction in the Asia-Pacific region. The session is organized by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and ADPC. For more information, click here.
