Bangkok, Thailand

ADPC has published its Annual Report 2017 that summarizes some of the key contributions of the organization to facilitate the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) and Agenda 2030 across different thematic areas in Asia and the Pacific. Over 5,000 people built their capacity in a range of areas of engagement, in 16 countries, where ADPC implemented 55 projects.

The report highlights the implementation of the revised ADPC Strategy 2020, which is aimed at guiding the organization’s work towards achieving globally-agreed goals for disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. In the reporting year, ADPC continued to enhance its experiences in rights-based approaches alongside gender equality and diversity.

The annual report offers details of a number of the significant outputs and achievements including making NASA’s publicly available data understandable for the lower Mekong region with help from USAID; preparing communities and humanitarian organizations for better response in several countries with support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; building the capacity of health professionals in South Asia; making climate information available to decision makers in Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar and strengthening risk governance in Asia and the Pacific.

The report demonstrates ADPC’s efforts in bringing together public and private sectors for knowledge exchange in addition to facilitating dialogue between science communities and policymakers and integrating the concerns of vulnerable groups in our DRR programs.
