The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) will organize a number of regional events including conferences, workshops and training courses in 1998. As an update to our earlier announcements, following is the list of upcoming events for 1998:

Workshop on "El Nino Emergency Management" for Regional Media, (EEM - 2), Bangkok, Thailand, February 6, 1998, Fee: By Invitation, Collaborators: NOAA.

Twenty-third Basic Course on Disaster Management, ( DMC-23), Bangkok, Thailand, March 2-20, 1998, Fee: US$ 2,500.

Second Regional Learning Workshop on "Urban Disaster Mitigation", (UDM - 2), (under the Asian Urban Disaster Mitigation Program), Bangkok, Thailand, April 1998, Fee: US$ 2,000.

First Regional Workshop on "Implementing Multi Local Learning Organizations for Urban Disaster Mitigation in Asia", Bangkok, Thailand, (immediately after 1.04), Fee: By Invitation Only, Collaborators: National Partner Training Institutions from India, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines and Sri Lanka.

Second Regional Course on "Community Based Approaches to Disaster Management", CBDM-2, Bangkok, Thailand, May 10-23, 1998, Fee: US $ 2,000.

First Regional Learning Workshop on "Technological Hazards: Risk Mitigation in Cities", (under Asian Urban Disaster Mitigation Program) (THRM-1), Delhi/ Mumbai, India, June 1998, Fee: US$ 2,000.

Second Regional Training Course on "Road Accident Rescue", (RAR - 2), Bangkok, Thailand or Penang, Malaysia, (10 days during April - June 1998), Fee: US$ 1,800, Collaborators: DES Queensland, Australia.

First Regional Course on "Safety, Health and Environment: Management Systems", (SHEMA - 1), Bangkok, Thailand, July 15-20, 1998, Fee: $1,200.

First Regional Course on "Safety, Health and Environment: Auditing Systems and Practice", (SHEMA - 2), Bangkok, Thailand, July 21-27, 1998, Fee: $1,200.

Sixth Regional Course on "Seismic Hazards Reduction", Bangkok, Thailand or Jakarta, Indonesia or Kathmandu, Nepal, August 15-September 7, 1998, Fee: US$ 2,500, Collaborators: RADIUS Project; IDNDR; Partner Training Institutions, JICA.
