1st Training Course on Nature-based Solutions Course

Date:  22 - 26 Aug 2022

Venue: Bangkok (On-site Training), Thailand

The course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement nature-based solutions (NbS) in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) contexts.

With the effects of climate change becoming more evident, NbS can greatly enhance resilience to disasters and climate change. Not only can they reduce exposure to hazards or act as natural buffers against them, they can also remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and promote the integrity of ecosystems, which are both likely to be critical in the achievement of DRR and CCA goals.

Given that the recent COP 26 agreement will set the global agenda on climate change for the next decade, DRR and CCA professionals are strongly encouraged to attend this course.

This course is ideal for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation professionals and government officials interested in nature-based solutions. Motivated individuals who are interested in enhancing their knowledge and skills on nature-based solutions are also encouraged to apply.

A week course will be conducted in the Face to Face modality and based on adult learning methodologies and tools with a heavy emphasis on practical application of case studies. Interactive tools and role play will demonstrate practical aspects while theoretical basis will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own program frameworks to use as the main learning tools and to ensure practical application of the lessons and concepts discussed.
