Location: Thailand,

Post-disaster assessment involves the timely and accurate estimation of damages, losses, impacts, and needs across different economic and social sectors. The assessment feeds directly into recovery planning, which aims to re-establish basic public services to normalize socio-economic conditions after crises, as well as source capital investments for long-term reconstruction with "Build Back Better" approach as per the priority 4 of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR).

This two-week course aims to build participant's capacities to anticipate and prepare for post-disaster assessment and recovery, using internationally-accepted methodologies. The training will be primarily based on the agreed PDNA methodology between the European Union (EU), World Bank Group and United Nations Development Group (UNDG) and the efforts of Resilient Recovery promoted through the International Recovery Platform (IRP).

This training will be conducted in the most interactive method using the ADPC's electronic training kit. This includes lectures (30%), scenario based exercises (30%) and actual case study based analysis (40%). The indicative percentage emphasis will be evaluated by the participants during the training.
