Editor's Corner...

Dear Readers,

The Gujarat earthquake of 26 January 2001 was one of the most severe disaster events of the last decade in the Asian region. It shook the disaster management community in the region and highlighted the need for even more concerted efforts to integrate disaster reduction concerns in development processes. In the wake of Gujarat tragedy, we have focused this issue of Asian Disaster Management News on the event itself, the emerging reconstruction and rehabilitation issues and earthquake mitigation in general.

In the next issue we will focus on sustainable tourism and disaster management. As always, in the effort towards providing you useful information, we welcome all your comments, suggestions and contributions.
