Bangkok, 12 December 2025 – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Thailand, and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) jointly organized the Final Workshop to Endorse the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) Guidelines for the Housing, Education, and Health sectors in Thailand. The workshop was held at DDPM in Bangkok and brought together over 20 representatives from relevant government agencies, sectoral working groups, experts, and development partners.
During the workshop, participants from the housing, education, and health sectors revisited the revised draft guidelines and provided additional technical comments and recommendations. These discussions focused on strengthening the practical application of the guidelines for damage and loss assessment, recovery planning, and data integration across sectors. The comments gathered will be incorporated into the next revision of the draft PDNA guidelines, which will then be circulated to the working groups for final review and formal endorsement.
The workshop also served as a platform for exchanging views among sectoral experts and relevant agencies on how the PDNA handbook can be effectively applied in post-disaster contexts in Thailand. Participants emphasized the importance of having a standardized, sector-specific assessment tool to support coordinated recovery planning and informed decision-making.
Once endorsed, the PDNA handbook is expected to serve as a standard reference for post-disaster assessments across the housing, education, and health sectors and to support training, preparedness, and recovery-readiness efforts at both national and local levels.
