Urban  riverine  flooding  can  be worsened by local urban processes and activities that cause river flow
obstruction and pollution. This case study presents the flood mitigation efforts  by  Marikina  City’s  local
authority and people, with a special focus on how the physical restoration of  the  riverbanks  and  solid  waste clean-up contributed to flood disaster mitigation.
