ADPC and the World Bank Kick Off Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Project in Lao PDR with Inception Workshop and Field Assessments

On 4th September 2024, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), in collaboration with the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW), launched the "Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management in Lao PDR" project in Oudomxay Province. Funded by the World Bank under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative, the project aims to improve Early Warning Systems (EWS) in flood-prone villages by enhancing local disaster preparedness and response capabilities.

ADPC Welcomes New Sri Lankan Ambassador to Thailand

Bangkok, August 30, 2024 – The Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) warmly welcomes H.E. Mrs. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe the newly appointed Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand. Sri Lanka is among the nine founding member countries that has ratified the ADPC Charter along with Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Thailand. The Ambassador represents Sri Lanka as member of ADPC Board of Trustee (BoT).

A Familiarization Workshop on National Communications Strategy for the Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC)

A National Familiarization Workshop on the EDRMC’s National Communications Strategy was held from August 10-11, 2024, in Sululta, Ethiopia, at the African Leadership Excellence Academy (AFLEX). The workshop brought together 66 leaders and professionals, including 16 women, representing media houses, lead sector public relations and communications executives, and senior government communications service officials.
