A Sensitization Workshop on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Management into Health and Agricultural Sectors in Ethiopia was held for 50 leaders and professionals from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, and Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission. The workshop took place from June 13-15, 2024, in Adama, Ethiopia.
Bangkok, Thailand – In a significant move towards strengthening disaster resilience in Thailand, ADPC, along with its partner, the Thai Network for Disaster Resilience (TNDR), discussed with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) possible collaboration activities in 2024 to support the implementation of the Thailand National Disaster Risk Management Plan 2023-2027. This collaboration marks a critical step forward in the nation's efforts to enhance its preparedness, response, and recovery strategies in the face of increasing disaster risks.
Oudomxay Province, Lao PDR – On 4th September 2024, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), in collaboration with the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW), launched the "Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management in Lao PDR" project in Oudomxay Province. Funded by the World Bank under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative, the project aims to improve Early Warning Systems (EWS) in flood-prone villages by enhancing local disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
