ADPC signs MoU with CReLIC, LGED to promote climate resilience

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Centre (CReLIC) which is part of Bangladesh’s Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

The MoU aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, promote joint study projects and capacity building initiatives, and encourage technical support. The collaborative partnership will assist in exploring collaborative designs, share and gain knowledge, experiences, and best practices on resilient climate elements in the country.

Mr. Jasim Uddin, Project Director of Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming (CRIM) project explaining the inception background of CReLIC, LGED. This was followed by a presentation explaining the goals and scopes of the project’s future plans by Mr. A.K.M. Luthfur Rahman, Additional Chief Engineer and Director of CReLIC, LGED.

Mr. Md. Abdur Rouf, Country Project Lead of ADPC in Bangladesh, represented the organization at the signing ceremony. He outlined how ADPC’s Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CARE) for South Asia project’s work aligns well with the CReLIC’s principles.

This ceremony was attended by renowned climate change experts in the country representing Bangladesh Center for Advanced Studies (BCAS), Center for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) and Housing & Building Research Institute (HBRI) and engineers representing different units of LGED, and members of ADPC’s CARE for South Asia project team.

CReLIC, LGED is initiated under CRIM project funded by Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW) and Government of Bangladesh.

The CARE for South Asia project, implemented by ADPC and supported by the World Bank, aims to create an enabling environment for climate resilience in the region focusing on Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan.
