Weathering Challenges Together: A Collaborative Workshop for Strengthening Cambodia's Severe Weather Preparedness

Phnom Pen, Cambodia – A two-week Training Workshop on Severe Weather and Impact-Based Forecasting and Warning Services (IBFWS) was conducted from October 23 to November 3, 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The workshop, a collaborative effort between the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Ministry of Water Resources & Meteorology (MOWRAM) of Cambodia, and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC), drew together operational forecasters and stakeholders from diverse Cambodian agencies.�

ADPC and the World Bank Kick Off Community-Based Disaster Risk Management Project in Lao PDR with Inception Workshop and Field Assessments

Oudomxay Province, Lao PDR On 4th September 2024, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), in collaboration with the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW), launched the "Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management in Lao PDR" project in Oudomxay Province. Funded by the World Bank under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative, the project aims to improve Early Warning Systems (EWS) in flood-prone villages by enhancing local disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
