since August; King donates thousands of relief
packages
09 October 2006, Thailand. Flooding
has disrupted the lives of almost 1.8 million
people since late August with the confirmed
death toll rising to 32 as of yesterday, the
Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department
said. Thousands of relief items donated by His
Majesty the King were distributed to flood victims
in Chanthaburi with more relief packages scheduled
to arrive in Angthong on Wednesday.

Typhoon
Xangsane worries His Majesty
03 October 2006, Thailand - The Irrigation Department
is closely studying photographs of the northern
floods provided by His Majesty the King to determine
how best to execute relief measures, said department
chief Samart Chokkanapitark. The department is
also working around the clock to drain water from
the Chao Phraya Dam, releasing the water to enable
the dam to receive more water from the North,
he said. The dam is discharging water at maximum
speed 2,500 cubic metres per second, Mr Samart
