Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network
2008 - 2012
Thailand Country Project

Analysis of institutional and governance preparedness and willingness of a range of cities to cope with climate change effects. The analysis will be the basis for selecting two cities for deeper engagement in the next phase. Both cities will serve as models of climate resilience building for other cities in Thailand and the South East Asian region.

Thailand, along with Vietnam, India and Indonesia is part of the increasing Asian network dealing with climate change challenge.  The objectives of ACCCRN project in Thailand consist of:

  • Creating robust climate adaptability models within vulnerable communities in two cities in Thailand

  • Raising awareness on climate change impacts among key actors

  • Supporting effective urban resilience management projects

  • Disseminating and promoting these models for further climate change resilience initiatives in Thailand and South-East Asia

  • Expanding the network to a large number of stakeholders  by disseminating lessons learned and adaptation frameworks throughout the region, and leveraging additional funding sources to ensure the continuity of ACCCRN initiatives beyond its five years-term duration
