DMS Activities for 2006

Installation of flood marks in Peam Chor district (Before 13 April)

The Department of Hydrology and River Works, in collaboration with ADPC and Peam Chor District Committee for Disaster Management, will conduct a survey in the high risk (flood) villages along Tonle Tap river in Peam Chor for installation of flood marks. The activities under the GTZ-MRC-ADPC project "Flood Emergency Management Strengthening (FEMS)" are expected to complete before 13 April 2006.

Orientation meeting in Vietnam (April)

Under FEMS project, two orientation meetings at the provincial levels are planned in Dong THap and AN Giang provinces in Vietnam around the third week of April. The meeting aims to share the FEMS planned activities in their provinces with the provincial DM authorities, and to identify detailed cooperation schemes for effective implementation of the project activities.

Coastal Risk Analysis of Tsunami and Environmental Remidiation (CRATER) Project workshops (8-11 May)

The following workshops are planned under the Coastal Risk Analysis of Tsunami and Environmental Remidiation (CRATER) Project.

·    May 8, 2006 CRATER workshop in Phuket - to present outputs (numerical models, vulnerability and risk, evacuation plan, guidelines for reconstruction) of the project to local authorities and NGOs.

·    May 10, 2006 Workshop on Numerical models, Vulnerability and Risks, Evacuation plans, and EIA - to present outputs of the project to head quarters, universities and NGOs.

·    May 11, 2006 Workshop on Guidelines for reconstruction - to present the project outputs of the project to head quarters, universities and NGOs.
