Research on Risk-Vulnerability
Assessment Tools in Asia
Under the leadership of International Strategy
on Disaster Reduction (UN-ISDR) Working Group-3
(WG3), UN-HABITAT and UNDP, in collaboration
with OAS (Organization of American States), ADPC
is implementing a research project on "Inventory
of experiences and practices on the application
of risk-vulnerability-impact assessment tools".
ADPC is taking the lead role in the Asian region
for the collection of experiences and tools.
The main outputs of this activity will be: A
"Register" of tools and practices for
risk-vulnerability-impact assessment at the
urban and local levels.
Based on the tools and experiences gathered,
next steps would be:
-
A "Review" of the design and application of
tools and practices for
risks-vulnerability-impact assessment
-
A set of "Criteria-Guidelines for the
identification of good practice" on the
design and application of
risk-vulnerability-impact assessment tools
and reduction plans.
The information on existing tools and practices
will be gathered in the following categories:
All material gathered will be appropriately
credited to the institution/expert of origin and
this information displayed on a website of ISDR
WG3, hosted by UN-HABITAT and also linked to the
websites of participating stakeholders.
