Report on the visit of the delegation of Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau

A delegation consisted of 6 officials from the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau (SCAB) and its sub-units visited ADPC between 3 - 9 March 2003. The purpose of this visit was to make a field survey on ADPC’s training capacity on disaster management in order to further develop the collaborative programs between ADPC and SCAB. 

Dr. Suvit Yodmani, Executive Director of ADPC warmly welcomed the delegation. In his welcome speech, he mentioned the delegation’s visit is an indication of the confidence that they have in ADPC’s capability to meet their training needs. He also said that ADPC would continue to do its best to be of service to China.

The officials expressed their keen interest on ADPC’s training courses as well as the regional programs during the presentations of ADPC. Under the guidance of ADPC’s Director, Managers and staff respectively, the delegation made a two-day field visit on disaster management facilities in Thailand. The officials visited the Thai aircraft carrier, which is also on duty for disaster relief. The two King’s projects impressed the officials very much. They also made a courtesy call to the Governor of Bangkok and visited Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA). 

The delegation gave a positive feedback on ADPC’s capacity on training on disaster management. The officials also expressed their admiration for ADPC’s contributions to the region.
