The
PDR-SEA Network List
The
PDR-SEA Network list is a moderated listserve
of the Partnerships for Disaster Reduction -
South East Asia (PDR-SEA) project for networking
with its project partners, as well as individuals
and institutions working towards disaster reduction
in South East Asia. The PDR-SEA is a project
managed by Asian Disaster Preparednes Center
(ADPC) and funded by the European Commission
Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) under its DIPECHO
Second Action Plan for South East Asia to provide
technical support for regional information exchange,
networking and capacity building for DIPECHO
target countries namely, Cambodia, Indonesia,
Lao PDR, the Philippines and Vietnam.
The
purpose of the PDR-SEA Network list is to provide
a platform for information exchange and electronic
dialogue among DIPECHO partners and other stakeholders.
It aims to share information on project activities,
information sources, grassroots initiatives,
case studies, lessons learned, institutional
arrangements, publications and announcements;
share ideas around a focus activity or document
and queries; and allow people to access colleagues.
The
PDR-SEA Network list is moderated by PDR-SEA
staff at ADPC in Bangkok, Thailand. Guest moderators
from among the project partners may be invited
periodically to moderate the list together with
the PDR-SEA moderator.
Who
can join the list?
The PDR-SEA
Network list includes project partners, national
disaster management offices of DIPECHO target

Monthly
Posting
ECHOES
a monthly electronic magazine for the disaster
management community in southeast Asia. The
idea of this kind of information exchange emerged
after a survey which was conducted after the
1st email discussion was held between August
15-September 15, 2003. A concept
note was written and the consensus from
the participating partner organizations was
sought. ECHOES is hosted on the pdrsea webpage
under the information component of the project.
Subscription is free and is open to all. The
objective of the monthly posting is to provide
an informal platform and to encourage more information
sharing between the members of the community.
To subscribe you may
send an email to: ambika@adpc.net.
