Bishoftu, Ethiopia – Thirty Disaster Risk Management (DRM) leaders from 12 Ethiopian regions and 2 city administrations participated in a DRM leadership cascading training held in Bishoftu from May 14-18, 2024. This intensive program aimed to equip these professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively lead regional humanitarian operations and strengthen disaster preparedness across the country.
Bangkok, Thailand – On January 24, 2023, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Robert F. Godec, Hans Guttman, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), and Dr. Karen M. St. Germain, Earth Science Division Director, NASA launched SERVIR-Southeast Asia (SERVIR-SEA), an $11.2 million ADPC-USAID-NASA initiative to help communities across Southeast Asia adapt to regional and transboundary climate issues and mitigate the impacts of climate change and disasters.
