Donor Agency: Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations

Location: 5 FAO regions

Description

It is proposed that FAO, in partnership with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, convene a Technical Meeting on Integrating Climate-Smart Agriculture and Disaster Risk Reduction to discuss how CSA and DRR could be integrated to facilitate the mainstreaming of measures to address the impacts and drivers of climate change and natural disasters in national agricultural strategies and plans. The meeting will bring together FAO experts on CSA and DRR from around the world and regional experts on DRR from ADPC. The meeting will be held back-to-back with the meeting of the FAO Technical Network on Climate Change that periodically brings together FAO staff from each of FAO?s five regions. The Technical Meeting with ADPC will build on the thematic sessions on CSA and DRR held during the first global workshop of the Technical Network on Climate Change, held in Budapest, Hungary in October 2015.

Key Activities

?ADPC will organize the Forum on DRR and CSA and undertake the following activities: 1. Provide technical support to the organization of the Meeting; 2. Arrangement of Meeting logistics including confirming meeting venue, arranging air travel members of FAO?s Technical Network on Climate Change and associated tasks; and 3. Prepare the final Meeting materials and summary report.

Output

The main outputs would be: a) Support FAO in organizing a 1-day Technical Meeting on Integrating Climate-Smart Agriculture and Disaster Risk Reduction back-to-back with the meeting of the FAO Technical Network on Climate Change, in Bangkok, Thailand; b) Compile the full set of presentations and other resource materials from the Meeting.
