Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The third batch of the Saudi Humanitarian Emergency Aid and Response Team (Saudi HEART) were selected in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, after an orientation forum on 19 November.

Thirty-five team members were chosen to take part in the training course and become part of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, an elite humanitarian response team that serves in emergency disaster response within Saudi Arabia and internationally. Team members were chosen based on their participation and comprehension throughout the forum.

The orientation forum began with 51 prospective Saudi HEART team members, including nine women, who were provided with an overview of the Saudi HEART program and the opportunities and obligations related to serving as a humanitarian response worker.

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center acts as a strategic partner in facilitating capacity-building and training for the team. Each batch undergoes 22−24 courses on all aspects of emergency response. Additionally, specialized courses on either public health, logistics management, or relief and recovery are held over a six-month period.
