Bangkok, Thailand

The latest issue of Asian Disaster Management News focuses on the theme ‘Disaster Recovery: The governance, economics and social impacts.’

With a number of perspectives and case studies by ADPC and its partner organizations, the magazine discusses the strengthening of systems, capacities, and partnerships for post-disaster assessment and recovery planning before the next disaster.

This edition of Asian Disaster Management News is released in the knowledge of the significant challenge that has beset the government and communities of Nepal in the aftermath of the earthquake on 25 April 2015.

“The publication has added relevance as recovery starts in Nepal, and the world is looking to the challenging task ahead to help rebuild the country, its economy and its heritage, and rehabilitate the Nepalese people,” writes ADPC’s Executive Director Mr. Shane Wright in his editorial note.

In particular over the last 15 years, ADPC has undertaken a number of projects on post-disaster assessment and recovery, in partnership with governments and development partners.

“We continue to expand our experience and understanding, collaborating closely with our stakeholders, and providing technical assistance through the launch of our Ready4Recovery initiative,” Mr. Wright states.

Asian Disaster Management News is published by ADPC to serve as a channel of communication and source of information for disaster risk management and development practitioners in the Asia-Pacific region.
