ADPC's iPrepareBusiness team is packing-up the luggage to participate in the 11th Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, next 26-27 November 2014.

The Asia-Pacific Business Forum (APBF) is the flagship regional business forum on the role and needs of business in achieving inclusive, resilient and sustainable development and is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). This year, APBF will hold its eleventh session in Colombo, Sri Lanka to give businesses stronger voice under the theme "Enhancing regional business sustainability and partnerships".

The team will present the on-going work on an upcoming publication on disaster risk management (DRM) for business at a side event scheduled to take place from 9am on Thursday, November 27. The publication, “Resilient Businesses for Resilient Nations and Communities”, is a joint effort by ADPC, UN-ESCAP, UNISDR and R3ADY Asia-Pacific to highlight the potential role of business as a key partner in increasing society’s resilience and to provide recommendations for greater and better engagement of the Asia-Pacific private sector in DRM.

The side event, organized by UN-ESCAP with the support from ADPC, UNISDR and R3ADY Asia-Pacific, will bring together businesses, government and non-government agencies, international organizations, and interested individuals, to discuss how businesses can contribute to increase society resilience through higher engagement and partnership in DRM.
