Manila, Philippines

A workshop was held on 7 February 2014 in Manila that discussed the scope and future development of a study report on the implementation of an environmental impact assessment focusing on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation aspects.

The Department for Environment and Natural Resources, National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center have been drafting this study report along with a training package. The study report is to include six projects related to mining, power and sub-national development.

The workshop was led by the Environment Management Bureau of the Department for Environment and Natural Resources and was attended by over 25 participants including the concerned agencies related to selected projects considered for the study.

The study will also benefit other countries in the planning of disaster risk reduction measures.
