His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Saleem, Secretary General of SAARC, and Prof. Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, Chairman and Executive Director of ADPC discussed future collaborationsand joint initiatives between the ADPC and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Discussions focused on areas to enhance effective Disaster Risk Reduction Initiatives (DRR), namely capacity building and knowledge sharing region-wide. Activities explored include promoting DRR information sharing through online-DRR project information portal and regional workshops on Mainstreaming Disaster and Climate Risk Management in Development Process for SAARC and its Member Countries.

SAARC and ADPC have worked together since 2006. A new Memorandum of Understanding will formally refresh their partnerships in the near future.

The meeting was held at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu Nepal on 14 January 2013.
