6 - 10 Jan 2014

Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar

The Planning Department and Relief and Resettlement Department of Myanmar with technical assistance of Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) conducted a second national course on mainstreaming disaster and climate risk management into development in Myanmar on 6 - 10 January 2012.

The course was participated by over thirty representatives from sectoral ministries, regional and state development planning agencies and city development committees, and facilitated by government officers who have previously attended the training of trainers program and refresher training with regard the subject.

During the training, the participants made a field visit to Nga Laik Dam in the Pyinmana Township to learn about mainstreaming disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in irrigation systems.

The training is part of a process of integrating the course into the Government of Myanmar’s disaster risk reduction training system. The third training will be held later this year, and a similar intervention is underway in Taninthayi region on a pilot basis.

The project is supported by the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
