A three members delegate team from Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) visited Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the final preparatory meeting to start the Saudi Humanitarian Emergency Aid and Response Team (SAUDI HEART), an innovative training program and partnership with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
The program will build the capacity of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority to enhance their capacity to be ready to provide emergency response to disasters within the Kingdom and to assist in international disaster humanitarian response.
The two-year program will provide basic and specialized courses on disaster management, emergency response and disaster risk communication. The topics will also cover emergency public health, logistics, shelter management, relief, radio communication and information management.
The meeting in Riyadh brought together senior staff from both organizations to develop a final training framework and plan. The first trainings will start in April 2014.
On the last day of the meeting, the ADPC team briefed Prince Abdullah, Director General of International Affairs and Relief Department of Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
