Meeting for safer communities ─ 5th regional meeting of the Asian Preparedness Partnership

2 - 3 Dec 2019

Yangon, Myanmar

The 5th regional meeting of the Asian Preparedness Partnership (APP) will be held in Yangon, Myanmar on 2 - 3 December 2019.

The APP meeting will bring high-level government officials and representatives of local humanitarian networks and the private sector from Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Sri Lanka to take stock of the key achievements and lessons learned from the National Preparedness Partnerships in each country.

APP has mobilized key humanitarian actors, mainly governments, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia and media, and operationalized National Preparedness Partnerships in each country. At the regional level, the partnership is guided by the APP Regional Steering Committee (APPRSC).

The 5th regional meeting will also discuss the ‘Theory of Change’ for APP 2019-2022 and identify strategic actions for synergizing and amplifying locally-led actions to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters at the country level. The discussions will eventually feed into the way forward for consolidation and scaling up of APP at the national, regional and global levels.

The meeting will be co-hosted by ADPC and the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief & Resettlement, Myanmar through Myanmar Preparedness Partnership (MPP) ─ the national chapter of APP in Myanmar that is also the current Co-Chair of the APPRSC.
