Over the past two years the Building Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Extremes and Disasters (BRACED) programme has been working with some of the most vulnerable communities in Sahel, East Africa, and Asia to help build resilience to natural disasters and the effects of climate change.

Throughout the initiative valuable lessons learned have been collected which are now available online via the Resilience Exchange website for the benefit of those interested in the process of resilience building.

The website includes Stories of Change which presents specific project accounts of how BRACED is helping communities put resilience into practice by analyzing implementation activities and how individuals and communities are benefitting.

The BRACED program is a collection of 120+ organizations that work together with the collective aim of building resilience and promoting sustainable development. With support from the Department for International Development (DFID) of the United Kingdom and the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the organizations under the BRACED program support sustainable development in the most vulnerable areas.

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) contributes to the BRACED program as a knowledge manager and policy influencer in Myanmar and Nepal. Some of ADPC’s contributions include a series of media trainings with the Thomson Reuters Foundation to build journalists’ capacity on climate change and disaster preparedness reporting.
