ADPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Center for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction (CESDRR)

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and CEMSDRR signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combine their efforts in enhancing regional cooperation to respond to emergency situations in the CESDRR member states and countries of Central Asia through capacity building of key stakeholders and institutions on climate change adaptation and risk management.

Before the MoU signing ceremony, ADPC’s delegation led by Hans Guttman, the Executive Director, met with Mr. Valeriy Petrov, Director, CESDRR and discussed areas of mutual interest. The delegations agreed to combine their efforts, examining innovative ways to use information technology for disaster risk reduction, formulate programs on risk assessment, and enhance stakeholders' and institutions' readiness and capacities to respond to emergency situations in the central Asian region.

The CESDRR is a permanent intergovernmental body located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Established to ensure effective mechanisms for regional and international cooperation to implement risk reduction projects and programs, CESDRR works in partnership with governments and non-governmental organizations, strengthening preparedness for effective and timely responses in Central Asia.

ADPC affirmed it would bring its 30 years of experience and knowledge in the field of disaster and climate risk management to work jointly with CESDRR in order to implement the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in Central Asia.
