Asian Disaster Preparedness Center has recently joined the Global Green and Heathy Hospitals (GGHH) network to better collaborate within the international community of hospitals, health systems, and health organizations dedicated to reducing the health sector’s ecological footprint and to promote the well-being of patients, hospital staff and the entire community.
By becoming a member, ADPC will support GGHH’s comprehensive agenda of 10 interconnected goals designed to help hospitals and health systems around the world achieve greater sustainability and to contribute to improved public and environmental health. Part of this initiative is making hospitals more disaster resilient while having less of an environmental impact, helping to lower operating costs and supporting the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Sustainable Development Goals.
GGHH’s worldwide network is a growing community with more than 682 members across 38 different countries representing the interests of over 20,700 hospitals and health centers all around the globe. Members of this community are characterized for using innovation, ingenuity, and investment to make the heath sector sustainable and resilient.
ADPC and GGH share a vision of sustainable Public Health initiatives. This synergy creates a strong partnership that can collaborate with important international liaisons and partners, improve public health practices and advocate for a greener future in the sector.
Existing projects under Public Heath in Emergencies such as the Hospital Emergency Preparedness and Response (HEPR), Hospital Preparedness in Emergencies (HOPE) and the Strengthening of Earthquake Resilience (SERB) Bangladesh funded by USAID, will benefit from the new output this collaboration will provide in terms of sustainability.
