RCC Dates Announced

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan through the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will co-host the 13th Regional Consultative Committee on Disaster Management (RCC-13), on 17–19 October 2016 in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The RCC-13 will discuss implementing the initiatives set forth by the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the new Climate Change Agreement. It will also discuss the upcoming Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) taking place in New Delhi, India, 14–17 November 2016.

The Regional Consultative Committee is an annual event made up of 26 member countries that serves as an informal consultative mechanism on disaster risk reduction in the Asia Pacific region. Every year, senior representatives working on key government positions in the national disaster management systems of countries participate and exchange experiences in addition to developing practical cooperative programs on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption.

ADPC, acting as the secretariat since the committee’s inception in 2000, will facilitate the meeting and use its findings to shape the direction of future programs.
