Bangkok, Thailand – On January 24, 2023, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Robert F. Godec, Hans Guttman, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), and Dr. Karen M. St. Germain, Earth Science Division Director, NASA launched SERVIR-Southeast Asia (SERVIR-SEA), an $11.2 million ADPC-USAID-NASA initiative to help communities across Southeast Asia adapt to regional and transboundary climate issues and mitigate the impacts of climate change and disasters.
Bangkok, Thailand – In a significant move towards strengthening disaster resilience in Thailand, ADPC, along with its partner, the Thai Network for Disaster Resilience (TNDR), discussed with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) possible collaboration activities in 2024 to support the implementation of the Thailand National Disaster Risk Management Plan 2023-2027. This collaboration marks a critical step forward in the nation's efforts to enhance its preparedness, response, and recovery strategies in the face of increasing disaster risks.
Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt – Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), together with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan Water Forum, organized a panel discussion on ‘Actions for Scaling-up Effective Investments in Climate Adaptation and Resilience’ at the 27th United Nations Conference of Parties (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt on 14 November 2022.
