Organization
Profile:
ADPC is a
regional resource center working towards disaster reduction for
safer communities and sustainable development in Asia and the
Pacific. Established in 1986, the Center is recognized as an
important neutral focal point in Asia and the Pacific for promoting
disaster awareness and the development of local capabilities to
foster institutionalized disaster management and mitigation
policies. The ADPC is also implementing several programs and

Rationale:
The Manager
of Information and Knowledge Management unit (IKMU) will manage the
unit comprising of two other operational staff (Information
Coordinator, and Information Assistant); will build the capacity of
ADPC (staff and team) to acquire, manage, produce, and disseminate
information products and to expand the accessibility of such
information to ADPC staff, policy makers, practitioners and
community groups. The Manager is also responsible for mobilizing
funds for the sustainability of the unit by developing and
submitting proposals to donor agencies.

Required
Qualifications / Selection Criteria:
-
University
degree or Masters degree in international development or in
related field;
-
At least
five years of relevant experience, at least two years of which
must be in the area of development programs support and
information / communication / awareness programs.
-
Work
experience in Asian countries or familiarity with NGOs, donor
agencies or international organizations would be an advantage.
-
Experience with various IT applications (website, databases,
etc.).
-
Excellent computer skills especially in word-processing,
spreadsheets, database, scheduling and presentation software.
-
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; with
ability to provide training for staff as may be required and with
ability to independently write articles, papers and draft
proposals to international donor community.

Demonstrated skills on research and information analysis and
digital imagery.

Experience in managing events will be preferable
-
Willingness and availability to travel under sometimes challenging
conditions.
-
Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills; negotiation
skills; ability to work with a team in a multi-cultural
environment; international experience in
Asia is
desirable.

Duties and
Responsibilities:

Propose a
direction for ADPC Information and Knowledge management and
sharing
-
Based on the
above analysis, prepare a draft for ADPC knowledge management
plan/program which includes
-
Activities
-
targets
(both internal and external audience)
-
Milestones
-
Allocation
of resources (Finance, manpower, material, etc.)
-
Monitoring
and Evaluation of the activities
-
Publications – develop guidelines for ADPC publications,
maintain the inventory of ADPC publications; collect and collate
information for the quarterly newsletter, develop and circulate
the quarterly newsletter
-
ADPC
website – responsible for the design and maintenance of updated
ADPC web site and intranet;
-
Library -
responsible for maintenance of the library and library database
on the web
-
Develop
and manage other information products such as contacts database,
country profiling
-
Be the focal
point for Information and Knowledge management task force and be
responsible for implementing the identified activities including
outreach, advocacy and ADPC publications.

Is
responsible for mobilizing funds for the sustainability of the
Knowledge/Information related activities.

Assist the
Executive Management in

Identifying opportunities for institutional funding support; and
-
Developing
and submitting proposals to donor agencies.
- Other
duties as assigned by the Executive Director or the Deputy
Executive Director.
