Profile:
ADPC is a
regional resource center working towards disaster reduction for
safer communities and sustainable development in Asia and the
Pacific. Established in 1986, the Center is recognized as an
important neutral focal point in Asia and the Pacific for promoting
disaster awareness and the development of local capabilities to
foster institutionalized disaster management and mitigation
policies. The ADPC is also implementing several programs and
projects, the details of which are available in our website at

Rationale:
The
Information Coordinator will work under the guidance of the Manager
of Information and Knowledge Management unit to coordinate ADPC’s
information and networking program, which includes systems and
procedures for generating, collecting, sharing, packaging and
disseminating information within and external network of ADPC, and
collecting and using feedback information to improve its work.

Required
Qualifications / Selection Criteria:
-
University
degree or Masters degree in international development or in
related field;
-
Three to
five years of relevant experience, at least two years of which
must be in the area of development programs support and
information / communication / awareness activities.
-
Work
experience in Asian countries and / or familiarity with NGOs,
donor agencies or international organizations would be an
advantage.
-
Excellent
computer skills especially in word-processing, spreadsheets,
database, scheduling and presentation software.
-
Knowledge and interest in the latest technologies in storage,
dissemination and management of digital information (web
design/programming, multimedia CD authoring, database, etc.)
-
Excellent
command of English, both written and spoken, with ability to
provide training for staff as may be required.

Excellent
desktop/electronic publishing skills along-with good working
knowledge of the Internet
-
Demonstrated
experience of good writing skills, coordinating and managing
printing of publications.
-
Experience
in coordinating and managing events will be preferable
-
Willingness
and availability to travel under sometimes challenging conditions.
-
Excellent
interpersonal and public relations skills; ability to work with a
team in a multi-cultural environment; international experience in
Asia is desirable.

problem-solver; must have self-confidence; a willingness to work
hard; a good sense of humor but serious about the quality and

Duties and
Responsibilities:
-
Publications
– assist in developing guidelines for ADPC publications, maintain
the inventory of ADPC publications; be responsible to collect and
collate information for the quarterly newsletter, develop and
circulate the quarterly newsletter

ADPC website
– coordinate with the teams and be responsible to update the web
site regularly; be responsible for the ADPC intranet; coordinate
with the Web designer and be responsible for the overall design
and layout of the web site and intranet;
-
Library -
Contribute to the upgrading of ADPC library by collecting various
information materials and researches from the ADPC member
countries; be responsible for maintenance of the library; Manage
the Library database on the Web, and offer access programs to
researchers.

Develop and
manage other information products such as contacts database,
country profiling.

Manage the
consultants who are involved in designing / developing the ADPC
information products
-
Respond to
queries / provide information regarding ADPC products to
outside-organization as well as for ADPC staff members.

Upgrade and
maintain various e-mail lists
-
Assist the
Manager, Information and Knowledge management to
-
Identify
opportunities for institutional funding support; and
-
Develop
proposals to donor agencies.
- Other
duties as assigned by the Executive Director or the Deputy
Executive Director.
