Training Objective

This manual is designed to train Red Cross Volunteers in the village who have a basic understanding about disasters to be able to organize villagers to take steps to prevent and mitigate disasters which could hit their village.

This training complements other training modules, which emphasize the nature of disaster, their causes and effects, and some methods for diverting and preventing damage. This module focuses on how to mobilize villagers to participate in the process of community organization needed to prevent the effects of disaster and is intended to provide basic practical skills in these areas.

At the end of this training the participants will be able to help their follow villagers to organize themselves; make plans for disaster mitigation and prevention; and, be able to write their fellow villagers to organize proposal packages to get support from local or international organizations for needed human resources, supplies and technical assistance.
