risk reduction and climate change adaptation, to promote disaster
risk reduction as an adaptation strategy, and to clarify the role
of climate change in disaster risk management. DR+CC infolink will
provide information on key issues, upcoming events, publications
and linkages with other like-minded organizations and individuals.
This first edition highlights the need to take steps to have disaster
risk better dealt with in the IPCC process. To subscribe, please

NGO initiatives in risk reduction: an annotated bibliography
of case studies
The first draft
of this bibliography is now online. It lists over 200 documents
that describe and analyse risk reduction initiatives by NGOs and
community-based organisations worldwide and especially in developing
countries.
The
documents were identified by the British Red Cross Society's research
project on NGO Natural Disaster Mitigation and Preparedness Projects
(October 1998 - March 2001). The outputs of this project are listed
in the bibliography.
This
bibliography is confined to published or publicly available documents
in English. Grey literature has been included only if it is clear
that it is for public consumption. Internal documents are not included,
unless explicit permission was given to make these public (much
of the British Red Cross Society research was based on confidential
internal documents, which therefore are not included here).
For
more details, please contact Dr. John Twigg <j.twigg@ucl.ac.uk>.
