Public Health in Complex Emergencies (PHCE) Training Program

The PHCE Training Program is organized by World Education, Inc. in partnership with Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, International Rescue Committee, and regional partners from Lebanon, Uganda and Thailand where the courses will be held.

The schedules are:
21 July - 2 August 2003, American University of Beirut, Lebanon
25 August - 6 September 2003, Makerere University, Institute of Public Health, Kampala, Uganda
22 September - 4 October 2003, ADPC, Bangkok, Thailand

The two-week courses aim to enhance the capacity of humanitarian assistance workers and their organizations to respond to the health needs of refugees and internally displaced persons affected by emergencies.

Thirtieth Disaster Management Course (DMC-30), 3 - 21 November 2003 Bangkok, Thailand

The thirtieth Disaster Management Course organized by ADPC aims to provide comprehensive disaster management knowledge and skills to managers who have key disaster management responsibilities. It is designed to enable professionals working in disaster management, development and donor agencies to effectively integrate disaster management into their development programs and policies.

Second Southeast Asia Regional School in Forced Migration, 8 – 18 December 2003, Bangkok, Thailand

Oxford University's Refugee Studies Center, United Kingdom and the Chulalongkorn University's Asian Research Center for Migration, Thailand is pleased to announce the second Southeast Asia Regional School in Forced Migration. Aimed at senior and mid-level managers involved with assistance and policy-making for forced migrants, the School provides inter-disciplinary insights into the nature of forced migration.

Sixth Annual Conference of the Global Disaster Information Network
(GDIN), March 2004, Washington D.C., USA

This year's conference is focused on "delivering the goods: GDIN's contribution to disaster mitigation, prediction, response and recovery. Over the three-day conference, there will be 9 plenary sessions and up to 36 parallel sessions looking at a range of themes including GIS and remote sensing, emergency telecommunications, infectious diseases, and NGO and community needs, to name a few. There is a call for abstract for the plenary sessions and poster session.
